Sigourney Weaver - Ripley
Alien "Structural Perfection"
"You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? The perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility."
It's always a challenge to do something original for a movie that has more AMPs for it than probably any other movie. We wanted to capture the mood, the H.R. Giger look, and scenes from the film that had narrative meaning. We wanted to show Ripley in a central pose that hadn't been used before, which led into something I was really keen to do for this project, use scenes from the Directors Cut, specifically, the Dallas (and Brett) "Kill Me" cocoon / egg morphing scene, it's canon at this point in time so we used that to our advantage to do something original. I'm sure those of you with eagles eyes will also notice the Lambert death scene, while still used in the theatrical, it's also a nod to the infamous crab-walk scene in terms of the angle of the scene and colour tone from the DC, we geeked out on this to come up with something fresh conceptually, for Kwow to then hand paint it to perfection; the perfect poster organism ( Steven )
Typography and colour balancing was handled superbly by Brandon Kachel, bringing it all together, turning it into an alternative movie poster.
This is the separated version, screen printed with separations handled by the master in his field; Juan Saniose. This is using 11 x inks on Fedrigoni Freelife Vellum White paper, it also features a spot gloss varnish layer over the Xenomorph for that wet look.
Movie Synopsis:
“After a space merchant vessel perceives an unknown transmission as distress call, their landing on the source planet finds one of the crew attacked by a mysterious lifeform. Continuing their journey back to Earth with the attacked crew having recovered and the critter deceased, they soon realize that its life cycle has merely begun.”
